As Christians, we are called to love. This sounds REALLY good in scripture. It sounds so easy to love your neighbor as yourself. But, what happens when your neighbor is not like you? What happens when your "neighbor" is talking crap about you or causing an issue that's beyond your control? It's not easy, but boy do our reactions to these situations really say a lot about us! Why is it that we speak/act so often in haste? God warns us numerous times in his Word about this, but it's so hard to stop! Next year, I am teaching my kids the STAR strategy (Stop, Think, Act, Review). Perhaps it would be beneficial for us all to employ this strategy rather than making snap decisions that merely usher us further into the drama rather than eschew it.
Lord, keep me busy doing Your work, with my mind focused straight on You so that I don't have the time or desire to fall into the depths of drama. Let me live in love, loving the unlovable and those who do not love me back. May I abide in You and not look to others for my confidence or support. I love You. Amen
