Thankful

It's sad, but true, that I don't take the time to be thankful often enough. And even when I do, my selfishness brings to mind things that directly affect me on a daily basis: which is often not the things that really matter. I take those things for granted. It's actually a bit embarrassing that it takes a special day, the 4th of July, for me to really reflect on what people have done and continue to do for our country...for me. It's easy for me to dismiss what's occurring in other countries because I am in my safe zone of Barnesville, GA. I don't see what it 'could' be like because...well, because it isn't. Thousands of people get out of their comfort zones every day and work so that I can be free. But do I really even take the time to thank them, or thank God for them? Honestly, not until I heard Cameron sing "God Bless the USA" to kick off the fireworks at Rock Springs did I even think about it. Let it be known that I am truly thankful to all of the men and women, past and present, who give of themselves on a daily basis so that I can enjoy freedom to the point that I live so comfortably as to take it for granted.
