I have a frame that says "I love old friends...and new shoes!" I love the thought of it...although, the idea that I'm anyone's "OLD" friend makes me less than thrilled. But, the truth is that there is something between people who have been friends for many years. A bond, a love that can span time and distance. I cannot wait to see a couple of my "old" friends (Seriously, can we not come up with a better phrase than that?) this weekend! I anticipate a time of joy, encouragement, and celebration. God has worked in all of our lives so greatly over the past few years and it's exciting to see all that He has done and continues to do each time we get together.
Honestly, I think that of the three girls that I'm mainly thinking of, I'm the one who has taken the longest to truly see God's amazingness. Carla and Emily have always been my source of strength, direction, and positive models of what it means to be a child of God. When I worried, they prayed. When I stressed and fixed, they were calm and sought God's direction. They're portraits of grace, love, and contentment....and did I mention that I CAN'T WAIT to see them this weekend!?!
