Charlie-isms

As a child, I did not realize the truth in some of the 'weird sayings' that my dad used. I would respond as most kids (sorry about this, papa) by snickering or probably even rolling my eyes (I knew everything: I was a teenager, after all). However, as I've grown older, I have realized the wisdom that was woven into these little gems from my father (many of which were certainly passed down from my grandfather Mr. Pete and others, I'm sure). So, I thought that I would take a moment to share some of the phrases and sayings that my dad used while we were growing up and that I have caught myself using over the last couple of years. My memory is...well...horrendous, so I'm sure I'm missing some of them, but hopefully Katie and Carla can remind me and I'll add them in!

  • The dreading's worse than the doing
  • Get off your dead butt onto your dying feet
  • Do something, even if it's wrong
  • Act like "folks"
  • It takes two to argue

There's some serious wisdom amidst those silly phrases! But, to this day it still shocks me when one of them slips out...and my guard girls look at me just like I did my papa a few years ago ;-)
